  Glocal Films Ltd. is a film making company based in London and founded by Kerstin Rickermann and Silke Beller in 2004. We combine qualifications in film making, social work and visual anthropology.
 

Portrait of SilkeSilke received a BA in Sociology and Anthropology and an MA in Visual Anthropology from Goldsmiths' College in London and spent 4 years as a freelance journalist. She then worked on various broadcast/festival documentaries as a researcher, while also being involved with the Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign, the LUX, the London Detainee Support Group and Resonance FM (104.4). Silke has organised various participatory video projects with young people in the UK, Germany and Pakistan. Between 2004 and 2006 she taught Visual Anthropology first at Iqra University and then in the film department of the National College of Arts in Lahore/Pakistan.

 

Portrait of KerstinKerstin has a degree in social work with the specialisation in media education. She has facilitated photography, art and radio workshops and has over 17 years experience in working for various social institutions in Germany, Peru and the UK. In 2002, after finishing an MA in Visual Anthropology, Kerstin completed a broadcast/festival documentary about immigration on unaccompanied minors in the UK. She has worked on an Indian/German documentary co-production and freelanced as an editor. Between 2003 and 2006, Kerstin was a social worker in fostering and adoption teams for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and the London Borough of Brent.

 

Portrait of DebbieDebbie Attucktsang gained a BA in Fine Art and Art History from Goldsmiths College, London where she specialized in photography. Since graduating she has continued as a practicing artist and has exhibited within a number of group shows in both London and Somerset. Between 1998 and 2004 Debbie spent extensive periods of time living, traveling, photographing and writing in Northern India. Debbie has had experience running art workshops for 5 – 11 year olds. In 2005/ 2006 she volunteered at an after school club in SW London for children from refugee families – a project helping them to settle and integrate into the area. She has worked with Glocal Films on matching films and participatory video projects since 2005.
